Bartlett Regional Hospital??s Volunteer Services Department develops partnerships between the community and the hospital. Volunteer Services matches volunteers with opportunities within the hospital so that individual volunteers?? goals are met while the hospital gains the ability to offer added service to patients and staff. For student volunteers, ages 16 and up, this often means gaining valuable experience that can be used on resumes and college and scholarship applications, while for adult volunteers, this might mean gaining the satisfaction that comes from giving something back to the community. College students can earn college credit for their service in some instances by arranging internships through their school, in conjunction with Volunteer Services. For those individuals who want to find out more about health care careers, Job Shadowing (following a healthcare professional during his or her shift) is another option.

Volunteer Services also actively partners with community organizations by participating in outreach activity and events; organizations include the Southeast Regional Resource Center (SERRC), Juneau Coalition for Youth, University of Alaska Southeast, Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC), Juneau School District, and the Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska.
